The McNair Provenance merino Mountain Shirt
Our original Mountain Shirt with its rugged patch pockets is built for the outdoors. The heavyweight Mountain Shirt can be worn instead of a jacket when you think you need a shell. Wear it out in a blizzard, and watch the snow shake off it, wear it for a walk or just fall asleep in it on the sofa watching telly.
The luxurious heavyweight virgin merino wool is water resistant, wind resistant, doesn’t hold odour, is sustainably sourced, tougher than you’d think and very, very warm.
The mid-weight Mountain Shirt can be used as an over-shirt in spring and autumn or use it as a mid-layer on the coldest days. It’s also pretty weather resistant and equally odour resistant to the heavyweight.
Both weights of fabric are properly ethically made – right back to the farm in Australia and the slow shipping of the wool. We take care of every single process from the cleaning of the raw wool to the final stitches on our shirts.

My go-to “shirt” (I wear it like a jacket or cardigan sweater over a T) for just about anything where I need a little warmth and protection from the elements like wind. Absolutely love it, just need another color! Between rolling up the sleeve a little, collar up or down, and number front buttons fastened, I can perfectly titrate my comfort if it’s between 35 and about 60 degrees outside.

This shirt exceeds all other wool garments by a long mile , superb fit, top quality tailoring, and totally practical.
A real honour to own one and to be made in Yorkshire.

Midweight Mountain
It arrived this afternoon and it’s great. Love it. Thanks very much, it’ll be up on a Northumbrian hill before the sun goes down tonight.
