The Plains shirt is our heavyweight 100% cotton corduroy shirt for men. It combines the classic tailoring of our McNair shirts with what we believe is the best corduroy in the world: it’s weighty, soft, tough and rich in colour.

Corduroy originated from Manchester, not too far from our mill, as a workwear fabric during the Industrial Revolution. This shirt nods to its workwear roots while pushing the fabric further with PlasmaDry™ technology.

Corduroy, along with moleskin, has a very rich history. It belongs to a group of fabrics that in the early 19th Century was widely known as fustian: strong, hard-wearing woven cloth made with a linen warp and cotton weft. These exceptionally hardwearing and beautiful fabrics, which have unchanged specifications going back generations, are now supercharged with PlasmaDry™.

PlasmaDry™ changes everything by bringing previously unseen levels of water and stain repellency without using harmful fluorocarbons. The laser surface enhancement creates a permanent structural change to the cloth, providing a unique and durable water and stain resistance.

The Plains shirt has two generous button-down patch pockets on the chest, as well as an internal chest pocket resulting in a very practical shirt with an elegant silhouette.
