The McNair made to measure Mountain Jacket in finest grade virgin heavy weight merino.

Our first proper jacket. With all the features of our classic Mountain Shirt combined with a longer length and a more generous cut to accommodate more layers, it’s the perfect companion for the coolest months. There are 2 large chest pockets and 2 generous jetted hip pockets. Each pocket has a flap to keep the contents dry as well as keeping out the draught. The hip pockets are lined with the raised side of our unique fabric so they are sure to keep your hands warm too. Produced in the finest grade virgin merino and lovingly made to order in Yorkshire.

Available in Charcoal*, Dark Sage, Slawit Blue, Arctic Silver, English Mustard, Heather, Camel, Ash Melange, Chilli, Rosewood and Lagoon (special edition).

So I must admit to being slightly sceptical at first, but this mountain jacket definitely performed.

Made to measure meant it fitted perfectly and could be customised so the pockets suited my use, it also has a very different look to everyone else on the mountain, I have never had so many people comment on my jacket.

UK testing showed it could keep out at least an hour of torrential rain and two December weeks in Tignes, in a mix of cold weather, blizzards and high winds, showed it works perfectly on the high mountains too.

With the right layering underneath I was never cold (sometimes too hot and had to remove a layer), it kept out the snow and whilst I could feel the strong wind, it barely got through. I didn’t have to use a shell once whilst skiing.

I look forward to seeing how it performs during the rest of the season.
